Delhi Capitals Women bounced back strong as they thrashed Gujarat Giants Women in the ongoing WPL 2023 defeating them by 10 wickets to register their third win.
Earlier in the day, the Giants elected to bat first but struggled early as Marizanne Kapp took three quick wickets, including Laura Wolvaardt and Ashleigh Gardner. Kapp continued her dominance, finishing with an impressive five-wicket haul, while Kim Garth played a resilient knock of 32* to help Giants reach just over 100 runs.
In response, the Capitals had a watchful start to their innings before Shafali Verma started hitting the ball all around the park, registering the second-fastest half-century of the WPL.
Skipper Meg Lanning played a supporting role as the Capitals cruised to the highest powerplay score of the WPL which now stands at 87/0. Lanning eventually finished the game with a boundary, leaving Verma unbeaten on 76* off just 28 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. The Capitals secured a comfortable victory and two crucial points.
