DC Women registered a thumping win over Gujarat Giants in the 9th Match of WPL 2023. DC Women won the match by 10 wickets and chased down the target of 106 runs in 7.1 overs. DC Women now have won 3 matches out of 4 and have made a terrific comeback after getting outplayed by MI Women.

Shafali Verma played a blistering knock of 76 runs in 28 balls where she struck 10 fours & 5 sixes. The right-handed batter was in beast mode where she was whacking the bowlers all around the park. Skipper Meg Lanning would be delighted as this was a near-perfect game for the team.

Gujarat Giants (GG) would be in a state of shock as they were outplayed in all the 3 facets of the game. All the bowlers of GG were taken to the cleaners. Earlier, GG had elected to bat first where the top order fell like a pack of cards. With this defeat, GG now have lost 3 matches out of 4 which is an alarming sign for the team.

DC pacer Marizanne Kapp was the wrecker in chief as earlier she took a 5-wicket haul in her 4 overs spell and gave away only 15 runs. DC Women have made a staggering statement that they are not a finished product and it won’t be wrong to say that they are one of the strong contenders to lift the inaugural WPL 2023 championship.
