India and Australia go head to head in the ICC World Cup final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. The final India vs Australia match will begin at 2 pm IST. This is the second time the two teams face off in a World Cup final. They face each other in the final for the first time in 2003.
In this World Cup, India defeated the Kiwis in the first semi-final while Australia defeated the Proteas to set up a final date at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The stadium will accommodate over 1 lakh spectators supporting Team India to the hilt.
India won 10 games on the trot to reach the final of the tournament. The tenth game was the semi-final against New Zealand where India scored 397/4 and won the match by 70 runs. After hundreds from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer Mohammed Shami’s 7/57 was instrumental in getting India to the final.
On a very different pitch in Kolkata, Australia won the game through a nerve-wracking chase at the Eden Gardens chasing 213 to win the second semi-final. It was a rematch of the 1999 semi-final between the same two teams at Edgbaston where Australia scoring 213 defeated the Proteas in that match as well.
Talking about head-to-head, both teams have played 150 ODIs between themselves with India winning 57 and Australia 83 matches. As many as 10 games have ended with results. In 13 World Cup matches Australia won 8 matches and India five.
