Gujarat Giants (GG) won a thriller against the mighty DC Women. GG won the match by 11 runs & made a statement that they are not done yet in WPL 2023. GG skipper Sneh Rana marshalled her troops & rotated the bowlers smartly. Sneh Rana didn’t panic even when DC Women scored 51 runs in the powerplay overs where they had lost 3 wickets.

DC Women two star batters Alice Capsey & Marizanne Kapp were run out which changed the complexion of the match. Shafali Verma & Jemimah Rodrigues also had a rare failure that hurt the team.

With this win, GG now have won 2 matches out of 6 where there is still hope. GG batters Laura Wolvaardt & Ashleigh Gardner looked in complete control where they took calculative risks & made sure that they rotate the strike on a consistent basis. GG’s next match is against RCB Women on 18th March where a defeat for RCB Women would end their dream of making it to the playoffs.

DC Women would be in a state of shock after getting bundled out for 136 runs where 1.2 overs were left in the match. The batters should have shown some resistance. It won’t be wrong to say that WPL 2023 is proving to be a fascinating tournament where we have witnessed scintillating action.

During the post-match presentation, Sneh Rana was asked about the win after losing their previous fixture against MI Women.

“The smile is always there. We felt 150 was a par score with this ground and conditions. (On Meg Lanning’s wicket) Yeah, it was a big wicket, enjoyed it. I think the momentum was in our favour only, Kim Garth started brilliantly.” said Sneh Rana.

“Whoever contributes to the team, will be the best. We need two good partnerships to get a good score, and we got that today. Everyone was in a positive mindset right from warm-ups, and we knew we had to do it today.” she added.
