Former Australia batter Mark Waugh reacted to Virat Kohli‘s 186-run effort in the fourth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Ahmedabad. It was Kohli’s 28th Test century and 75th overall.
Virat Kohli ended his three-year wait for a Test century with a brilliant 186 off 364 balls in the fourth Test against Australia on Sunday.

As a result of the match’s draw on Monday, India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 and qualified for the World Test Championship final, which was already decided before tea on Day 4 after Sri Lanka’s dramatic loss to New Zealand in the opening Test between the two teams.
In terms of international cricket, Kohli now has 75 centuries, including 28 in Test matches. His last century in the longest format of the game occurred against Bangladesh in India’s first-ever pink-ball Test in November 2019 at Eden Gardens. Axar Patel and captain Rohit Sharma were overtaken by Kohli as India’s leading scorer with the ton as the series came to a close.

“Virat Kohli is not back to the kind of level he was”- Mark Waugh
Mark Waugh, a former Australia opener, claimed on Fox Cricket that Kohli appeared poised to get a century from the moment he stepped out to bat on Day 3. On Saturday, with Cheteshwar Pujara bowling the final difficult over of the second session, Nathan Lyon, and Kohli had to survive it.
“The drought’s over. The gates have opened, You could tell right from the get-go he meant business. He played very few risky shots. He was so patient, just picked the bowling off” Mark Waugh said.
Waugh, who made a stir when he strongly chastised Kohli for his slip-catching technique while commentating on the first two Tests of the series, stated that he believes Kohli is not back to the level he was at before 2019 and yet he did so brilliantly.
“I don’t think he’s at his pure best at the moment, as far as his Test career is concerned … but it just shows you his class,” he said.
Kohli passed Virender Sehwag, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Mohammad Azharuddin with his 28th Test century, 75th overall, and 14th at home.
